On top of receiving a strong overall grade, this nursing home performed well in our nursing category. In fact, we gave it an A- for that category, which is one of our highest scores. There are numerous factors within this area. Many of these criteria are tied to staffing levels. This facility provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well in the area of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

This facility also was awarded a strong long-term care grade. Indeed, we gave it an above average score of B+ in this category. Facilities that do well in long-term care tend to be well-staffed and provide extensive hands on care to patients. After assessing the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination data. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its residents for pneumonia. Vaccines are vital to keeping patients out of the hospital. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Adding to its impressive category grades, we awarded this nursing home a grade of B+ for our inspections rating. Our inspection grades are tied to many datapoints found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that score well in this area typically have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. Although this facility had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. The fact that the deficiencies were relatively minor made us feel better about this inspection report.

However, according to the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last metric we assessed in this area is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the facility and return home. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.
