Registered Staff Hours
Short-term Care Quality
This facility excelled in our short-term care rating, with an impressive grade of A- in this area. This really propped up its overall grade. Short-term care scores are based on a nursing home's quantity of skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This includes a vast spectrum of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, in addition to other forms of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last item we considered in this area is the percentage of residents that eventually returned home from the facility. We found that 5.9 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.
Facility Inspections
This facility also performed well in inspections. As a result, it received one of our best grades in that category with a score of B+. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing our inspection scores. One of those factors is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is usually more important than the number of deficiencies, as some of these can be quite insignificant. We were not able to find deficiency counts for this nursing home. We would like to have more data for this nursing home. Without having all of the deficiency data, it ended up being a challenge to fully evaluate it in terms of this category.

Long-term Care Quality
The third category we looked at was long-term care. In that area, we awarded this nursing home a solid grade of B-. If you are seeking services other than short-term rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each nursing home's long-term care ratings. In addition to looking at the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Fortunately, this nursing home gave the vaccine to 100 percent of its patients, which is a very solid statistic. Lastly, this facility was also able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
Nurse Quality
The final category we scored is nursing. For this category, we gave this nursing home a C. The nursing rating considers a host of factors. The most heavily weighted one is the number of hours nurses spend with residents. This place provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient daily. This is a low total compared with most facilities. Lastly, our nursing grades also consider some quality-focused measures. We especially look at the percent of residents who experienced pressure ulcers and major falls. These data points are indicators of the quality of nursing care, since better care can reduce these problems.
