Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

To pair with its favorable overall score, we gave this nursing home an A- for our inspections rating. Our inspection scores account for a host of factors found on a nursing home's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we look at is the number and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with better grades in this area generally have very few severe deficiencies. While this nursing home had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. The fact that none of the deficiencies were severe leaves us less concerned with this inspection report.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

Building on its impressive resume, this nursing home also excelled in our nursing category. In fact, we gave it an B+ for that category. Our nursing grade is mostly tied to a nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can typically be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

This facility also was given a favorable short-term care score. Indeed, we gave it an above average score of B in this area. Our short-term care grades are based in part on a nursing home's quantity of highly-skilled highly skilled professionals. This means a wide scope of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, not to mention other forms of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. However, based on the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we looked at the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

Turning to our final category, this nursing home received a highly favorable long-term care score. This facility did not prove to have any weak spots. When nursing homes receive this type of score in long-term care it is typically a good sign for patient care and suggests that the nursing home is well-staffed with nurses and aids. On top of looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 100 percent of its patients, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia tragically can be a deadly ailment for nursing home patients so we like it when a nursing home doesn't roll the dice on this issue. Lastly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
