Facility Inspections
This facility has received near flawless health inspections in recent years. We gave them an A in this area. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining our inspection grades. One critical factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these are quite insignificant. Fortunately, although this place had some minor dings on its government inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means the inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. The fact that none of the deficiencies were severe made us feel better about this inspection report.
Long-term Care Quality
The third area we analyzed is long-term care. Contributing to its elite profile, this nursing home also performed well in that category. In fact, it received a grade of of A- for that category. Facilities that receive this type of score in long-term care typically provide consistent around the clock care to make sure residents are well cared for. On top of providing well above average levels of nursing care, this facility administered the pneumonia vaccine to 100 percent of its patients. This statistic is also far better than the average nursing home. Finally, we looked at the nursing home's number of hospitalizations. We found that this facility had 2.41 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days.
Short-term Care Quality
Switching gears to the fourth area, this nursing home received a high-end short-term care score. We awarded it a grade of B+ in that category, rounding out one of our more favorable profiles. In computing our short-term care scores, we analyze a nursing home's levels of highly skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other licensed professionals. This score is often a fair measure of the nursing home's rehabilitation. We were pleased to find that this nursing home employs both registered nurses and physical therapists. The same can't be said for all nursing homes. The last measure we assessed in this area is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We discovered that 0 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.
