Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

On top of earning a strong overall rating, this facility fared even better in our inspections category which is associated with the nursing home's recent government inspection reports. We awarded it an A+ for that category, which is one of our best grades. Inspection grades take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can learn more about each of these issues by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Fortunately, although this place had some minor dings on its inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you that the inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Contributing to its profile, this facility also received a score of B+ for its long-term care rating. This is a well above average grade in this area. Nursing homes that receive this type of grade in this category tend to provide consistent 24/7 care to ensure residents are kept in good health. On top of assessing the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 93.525185 percent of its residents, which is a bit below what we were hoping for. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

The next highest grade we gave this nursing home came in the category of nursing, where we gave it a grade of B-. This wasn't quite as good as some of its other scores, but a grade in this range is not the end of the world. Our nursing rating assesses quite a few subcategories, however, the main one is the quantity of nurse hours spent with patients. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as preventing major falls. Despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours per resident, this place performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is generally a reliable indicator that a place has sufficient quality controls in place. Many falls could be avoided if a facility provides enough nurses to assist its residents.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: C

The final area we looked at was short-term care. We awarded it a grade of C in that category. This is a decent grade in this category. Our short-term care grade is generally used to gauge a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation. In order to provide quality rehabilitation services, facilities generally must provide higher levels of highly skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other highly trained professionals. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last statistic we considered in this category is the number of patients that eventually returned home from the facility. We found that just 3.6 percent of this facility's patients returned home.
