Facility Inspections
While we were not high on this nursing home overall, we awarded it a grade of B+ for our inspections rating. This score is much more impressive than the nursing home's overall grade. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining our inspection scores. One of those factors is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of deficiencies is usually more important than the number of deficiencies, as some end up being relatively insignificant. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. Not having any deficiencies proved to be this facility's greatest strength.
Short-term Care Quality
This facility's second highest category is short-term care. In that category, we gave this nursing home a grade of C. Our short-term care grades are vital for individuals in need of rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically requires higher levels of skilled nursing services. This includes a wide spectrum of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. We were surprised to find that this facility was below average in the two key staffing areas we looked at. The facility supplied fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other nursing homes. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of residents who eventually returned home from this facility. We found that 5.1 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was well below average.

Nurse Quality
We awarded this facility a respectable grade in the area of nursing as well, with a grade of C. Our nursing rating looks at the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. We consider both the levels of skill of those nurses as well as the number of hours spent with patients. This particular facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This figure is far below the national average. Lastly, while this place got docked a bit for nursing hours per resident, it excelled in a few of our quality metrics. With less than five percent of its patients suffering from pressure ulcers, it did well in this metric.
Long-term Care Quality
The final category we analyzed is long-term care, which proved to be this facility's worst area. We awarded this facility a D in this area. For residents in need of a permanent residence rather than rehabilitation, long-term care grades are a key measure. Once we finished looking at the amount of care provided by nurses, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination record. We were optimistic to learn that this nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Surprisingly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility has fewer hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes. Unfortunately, some of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.
