Registered Staff Hours
Short-term Care Quality
This facility actually received a good grade for short-term care. We awarded it a B for that category, which is a solid score. Our short-term care grades are vital for prospective residents requiring rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually utilizes additional skilled nursing services. This means a broad scope of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Unfortunately, we weren't able to locate information on registered nurse or physical therapy staffing for this nursing home. The final datapoint we looked at in this category is the number of residents that eventually returned home from the nursing home. We found that 5.6 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.
Facility Inspections
We also awarded this nursing home a grade of B- for our inspections rating. This score is a more impressive than the facility's overall grade. Our inspection grades account for a host of factors included in a nursing home's inspection reports. One key criteria we look at is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. Not having any deficiencies is this nursing home's best achievement.

Nurse Quality
We were surprised to find that this nursing home also excelled in the area of nursing. We gave it a score of D for that category, which is one of our highest scores. Nursing scores are based in large part on quality and quantity of nursing care. This nursing home averaged a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident daily. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing scores. This nursing home fared well in terms of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. Many consider these statistics to be measures of the quality of nursing care.
Long-term Care Quality
The last area we analyzed was long-term care, is this facility's worst area. We gave this nursing home a D in that category. For prospective residents in need of a permanent residence rather than skilled nursing, long-term care grades are very important. In addition to looking at the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 100 percent of its patients. To our surprise, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home had fewer hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes. Unfortunately, some of its other scores in this category weren't as favorable as these.
