Facility Inspections
To go along with its decent overall score, we awarded this nursing home an A- for its inspection grade. This grade is far more impressive than the facility's overall rating. Inspection scores are tied to items located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that excel in this category typically have very few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these facilities generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. While this place had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. The fact that the deficiencies were relatively minor leaves us less concerned with this inspection report.
Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home also received a favorable short-term care score. In fact, we gave it a grade of B+ in that area, which is one of our better. In calculating our short-term care grades, we assess the nursing home's levels of skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This score is generally a useful assessment of the nursing home's rehabilitation. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last metric we looked at in this category is the number of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We discovered that 5.7 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Nurse Quality
This facility's next best category grade came in the area of nursing. In that category, we gave this nursing home a grade of B-. In computing a nursing home's nursing rating, we consider the number of hours nurses are caring for residents as well as the level of licensure of those nurses. This nursing home provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This is a low total compared with most other facilities. Lastly, while this place got dinged a bit for its nursing hours per resident, it excelled in some of our quality-based metrics. With less than five percent of its patients experiencing pressure ulcers, it fared remarkably well in this statistic.
Long-term Care Quality
The next area we graded was long-term care, which turned out to be this facility's worst category. We gave it a lowly F for this category, which is obviously a major disappointment. Nursing homes that receive this type of grade in this category may not provide the type of consistent around the clock care that some other nursing homes offer. In addition to considering the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. We discovered that this facility vaccinated just 47.5 percent of its residents, which is well below average. To our surprise, this nursing home was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home has less hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes. This is its best feature in this category.
