Facility Inspections
Although we gave this nursing home a terrible overall grade, we gave it an A for our inspections rating. This grade is far more impressive than the facility's overall score. Inspection grades weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can learn more about each of these issues by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. While this nursing home had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were serious based on CMS' scale. A couple minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
Sadly, we gave this facility an F for its long-term care score. If you are looking for services other than short-term rehabilitation, you should take a close look at long-term care grades. On top of assessing the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 94.495415 percent of its patients. Surprisingly, this nursing home also keeps its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Sadly, some of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.

Short-term Care Quality
Sadly, this facility received an F for its short-term care grade. Our short-term care ratings are presumably more critical for residents in need of a nursing home for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually utilizes more highly-skilled nursing services. This means not just nursing, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. Considering its grade in this area, we weren't surprised to discover that this place was well below average in terms of the number of physical therapy and registered nurse hours offered to its patients based on the metrics we looked at. Lastly, we assessed the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that just 0 percent of this facility's patients returned home.
Nurse Quality
The next area we scored is nursing, where this facility was given a poor score in this area also. It received a lowly F in this category, which is obviously a major disappointment. Our nursing grade analyzes the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. We weigh both the levels of licensure of those nurses as well as the number of hours spent with residents. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. To go along with its below average total nursing hours per resident, this place had really poor marks in many of the quality-based metrics we looked at in calculating our nursing scores. For starters, we looked at the percentage of patients having falls which led to serious injury. This nursing home was at more than 150 percent of the national average in this statistic. This is alarming in light of the fact that so many falls could likely be avoided with better nursing care. This ended up sealing the nursing home's fate of earning a poor nursing grade.
