Facility Inspections
Although we gave this nursing home a horrible overall score, we gave it an A- for our inspections score. This score is far more impressive than the nursing home's overall grade. Inspection scores take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these items by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Unfortunately, it does not appear that we were able to find information about this nursing home's deficiencies. We wish we had more data for this nursing home. Without having access to complete deficiency related data, it ended up being difficult to evaluate it in the area of inspections.
Long-term Care Quality
We were also stunned to find that this facility earned a decent long-term care rating this year. We awarded it a C in that area. For prospective residents seeking a permanent place to live rather than skilled nursing, long-term care grades are very important. After looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination data. We were optimistic to discover that this facility vaccinated 100 percent of its patients against pneumonia. This nursing home also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Short-term Care Quality
The third area we assessed is short-term care. This facility's was given an abysmal short-term care score where it received an F. Our short-term care ratings are based in part on the facility's quantity of highly-skilled highly skilled professionals. This includes a vast spectrum of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. Finally, we considered the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that just 4.3 percent of this facility's patients returned home.
Nurse Quality
The last category we graded was nursing. We gave it a lowly F in this category, which is an abysmal grade. Nursing scores are heavily correlated with quantity of nursing care available. This nursing home provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This place also had terrible scores in some of the quality-based measures to go along with its low nursing hour totals.
