This facility ended up receiving rock bottom scores in our assessment. Perhaps most alarmingly, it received an F for its short-term care grade. Our short-term care ratings are probably most important for those requiring rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation generally utilizes more highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes not merely nursing services, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other types of therapy. With a grade in this range for this area, we were not shocked to find this facility was below average in many staffing figures we assess. In fact, it offered substantially fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other nursing homes. Finally, we assessed the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. This definitely wasn't a strength for this nursing home. We found that just 0 percent of this facility's residents returned home. At most facilities, around half of their residents are able to return home so this is well below average.

We also wanted to draw your attention to this nursing home's inspection grades where it received an F. This generally means we found some red flags on the inspection reports. With facilities that received this bad of an inspection grade, we would scrutinize any severe deficiencies on its inspection report. This particular nursing home was hit with 5 deficiencies on its inspection report. The only positive thing we found is that none of these deficiencies were in the categories that indicate that they created a risk to resident safety or health. Lastly, we also want to draw your attention to the fact that this place was assessed large government fines of more than $100,000. This generally means that a poor performance has been an issue for several years.

This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing ratings. This nursing home fared well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these metrics to be indicators of the quality of nursing care.

The final area we analyzed is long-term care. This facility received a very poor grade of F in this area. When nursing homes receive this type of grade in long-term care it is typically a bad sign for resident care and it may indicate that the nursing home is not as well-staffed.
