Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

This facility's overall grade was bolstered by the fact that it has earned favorable inspections in recent years. We gave them one of our better scores in that category, with a grade of B+. This is a much better score than the facility's overall score. Arguably the most critical factor we look at in calculating our inspection grades is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a facility's inspection reports. Nursing homes with higher scores in this category typically dodged the most severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. A deficiency-free inspection report is what we look for.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

This facility also was given a strong grade in our short-term care category. We gave this facility an above average grade of B in this category. Short-term care grades are important for patients looking for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually requires more highly-skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes a vast spectrum of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. It doesn't appear that this nursing home provided data regarding its registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. Finally, we assessed the number of residents who eventually returned home from this facility. We found that 4.6 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

This nursing home also received a strong nursing grade. In fact, we awarded it a grade of B in that category, which is one of our better scores. We scrutinized the licensure of nurses working for the facility, as well as the quantity of time the nurses worked with patients, in determining our score in this category. This nursing home provides 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality-based metrics and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the state in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can frequently be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as by employing a protocol of moving a patient more often.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

This nursing home's weakest area was long-term care, which is the last category we scored. For this area, we awarded this nursing home a D. For long-term care residents, the facility's primary goal is to keep patients healthy and safe. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate residents. On top of considering the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 99.64158 percent of its patients, which is higher than the average nursing home. Surprisingly, this nursing home also fared well at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Sadly, some of its other scores in this category were not as favorable as these.
