Facility Inspections
While this nursing home's overall grade was as bad as it gets, it actually didn't perform terribly in the area of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a grade of B- for that category, which is one of our better scores. Our inspection ratings are tied to several pieces of information located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are an important thing to look for on these reports. Severe deficiencies indicate a threat to the well being of residents. This facility was assessed 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered severe. This means that the government inspectors did not consider any of these deficiencies to pose an immediate risk to patient safety or health. Finally, CMS cited this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. Hopefully, its performance improves in the future, but until then we simply can't recommend this facility.
Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home also didn't rate poorly in the category of long-term care. In fact, we awarded it a B- for that category, which wound up being another one of its more respectable scores. In a long-term care environment, the facility's primary objective is to keep patients as healthy and safe as possible. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate residents. One of the datapoints we considered after nurse's aid hours was vaccines. Fortunately, this nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccine to 94.96124 percent of its residents. This nursing home was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality
We gave this facility a grade of just D for our nursing rating. We weighed the qualifications of nurses working for the facility, as well as the quantity of time those nurses worked with patients, in calculating our rating in this category. This facility averaged just 0.5 hours of nursing care per patient per day. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in calculating our nursing ratings. This nursing home performed well in the area of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.
Short-term Care Quality
The next category we looked at is short-term care. This facility was given a bottom of the barrel grade of F in this area. In our short-term care grade, we try to create a sound barometer for rehabilitation. In this process, we assess a facility's offerings of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Given its score in this area, we weren't stunned to discover that this place is well below average in terms of the number of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its residents based on the measures we looked at. Lastly, we looked at the number of residents who ultimately returned home from this facility. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.1 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.
