On top of receiving a strong overall grade, this facility also earned first-rate health inspections in recent years. We gave it one of our better scores in this category, with a grade of A. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any place Maine in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can many times be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as by employing a protocol of moving a resident even once per day.

The last category we rated is long-term care, which is a low point for this nursing home. We awarded this nursing home a grade of D in long-term care, rendering this the facility's weakest category grade. We'd still suggest that you look at the bigger picture. In addition to considering the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 97.03703 percent of its residents, which is higher than the vast majority of nursing homes. Surprisingly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home had fewer hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes. Sadly, a few of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.
