Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

We would like to point out that this nursing home's inspection grade exceeded its overall grade. This facility earned a B+ in this area, which is one of our better grades. These inspection scores weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can find more information about each of these items by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Although this place had some deficiencies on its report, none of them were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. A couple minor deficiencies should not stop you from considering a nursing home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

This facility also was given an impressive long-term care score. Indeed, we gave them a B in that category, which happens to be one of our better. Nursing homes that receive this type of grade in this category typically provide consistent around the clock care to ensure residents are well cared for. Once we looked at the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then looked at the facility's vaccination record. This nursing home vaccinated 87.66234 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which happens to be a bit lower than we anticipated but still a decent percentage. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0.03 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: C

This facility's next most favorable category ended up being short-term care. In that area, we awarded this nursing home a grade of C. Our short-term care grade is commonly used to judge a facility's rehabilitation services In order to provide good rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to feature better levels of highly skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other types of therapists. Unfortunately, this facility was below average in terms of its level of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its residents based on the metrics we assessed. The critical question is whether this adversely affected quality of care. The last statistic we considered in this area is the number of patients who returned home from the facility. We found that just 0 percent of this facility's residents returned home. Unfortunately, this was below average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

The next area we assessed is nursing, which was this nursing home's weakest area. We awarded this nursing home a D in that area. The nursing score analyzes many factors, however, the most important one is the quantity of nurse hours spent with patients. With only 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis, this place's nurse staffing levels were quite a bit below the national average. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This place performed well in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.
