Grade: A

On top of receiving a great overall grade, this facility performed even better in our inspections category which is based on the nursing home's recent inspection reports. In fact, we awarded it an A for this category, which is one of our best scores. Our inspection grades are based on several items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that score well in this area have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these facilities generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. While this nursing home had a few minor dings on its government inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those labeled as categories G through L. This means that the inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Another quality feature for this nursing home is that it was awarded a favorable long-term care score. In fact, this turned out to be its second best category grade. In this category, we gave this nursing home a B+. When nursing homes receive this kind of score in this category it is usually a good sign for patient care and indicates that the facility is well-staffed with nurses aids. On top of considering the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 94.84536 percent of its residents, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia is often a deadly condition for nursing home patients so we like it when a facility does not leave its residents vulnerable. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

Turning to the next category, this nursing home also earned a score of B for its short-term care rating. This is a well above average score in this category. In the category of short-term care, we endeavor to assess indicators of a facility's rehabilitation services. We assess the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and physical and occupational therapists. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. However, according to the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we considered the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

The final area we scored was nursing. In this area, we gave this facility a decent grade of B-. This ended up being this nursing home's worst category. Our nursing rating weighs a number of subcategories. The most important variable is the quantity of hours nurses spend with residents. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Lastly, despite not having the highest total nursing hours per resident, this place performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is generally an indicator that a facility has quality controls in place.
