Facility Inspections
One of the reasons this turned out to be a great nursing home is that it received an A+ in our inspections category. This is simply as good as it gets in this critical category. Our inspection ratings account for a host of factors found on a facility's inspection report. One key criteria we rely on is the number and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with higher scores in this area usually have few severe deficiencies. This nursing home was hit with 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe. This means that CMS didn't consider any of these deficiencies to be an imminent risk to resident health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home received an impressive long-term care score as well. We awarded it one of our better grades in that category with a grade of B+. When facilities receive a score in this range in long-term care it typically means it's well-staffed and is an overall good place to reside on a permanent basis. After assessing the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination data. This nursing home vaccinated 98.24561 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is much higher than the vast majority of nursing homes. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Short-term Care Quality
Moving on to our next area, this nursing home received a decent short-term care rating. Although this wasn't nearly as good as some of its other scores, this is really nothing to be ashamed of. Our short-term care grade is often used to score a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation. To offer good rehabilitation services, facilities generally must offer better levels of highly skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other highly skilled individuals. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last item we assessed in this category is the percentage of residents who were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that just 4.3 percent of this facility's residents returned home.
