Facility Inspections
The primary reason this facility received a decent overall score is its impeccable health inspections in recent years. We awarded it one of our higher grades in that category, with a grade of A+. This is a much better grade than the facility's overall score, which was decent but certainly not elite. Arguably the most critical factor we consider in calculating our inspection scores is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Places with better scores in this category typically avoided the more severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. This is definitely a great sign for this nursing home.
Short-term Care Quality
We also awarded this facility a middle of the road score in the category of short-term care, where we gave it a grade of B-. With our short-term care score, we seek to forge a sound measure for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we analyze a facility's scope of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. Unfortunately, this place was below average in terms of its quantity of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its patients based on the measures we assessed. The final metric we assessed in this area is the number of patients that returned home from the facility. We found that just 5.7 percent of this facility's patients returned home. Unfortunately, this was below the national average.

Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home ended up receiving a an abysmal grade in our long-term care area. It received an F in this category. For residents looking for a permanent residence as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care grades are a key measure. Once we assessed the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we next considered the facility's vaccination record. This facility vaccinated 94.308945 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is better than the average nursing home. To our surprise, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home had less hospitalizations than many nursing homes. Sadly, some of its other scores in this category were not as favorable as these.
Nurse Quality
The last category we looked at is nursing, which ended up being this nursing home's worst category. It received a lowly F for this area, which is clearly a major concern. The nursing grade considers numerous factors. The most important variable is the number of hours nurses spend with residents. With only 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient per day, this facility's nurse staffing levels were far below the national average. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in calculating our nursing grades. This facility fared well in terms of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.
