Registered Staff Hours
Although we gave this nursing home a weak overall rating, we awarded it a somewhat respectable score in the area of inspections, where we gave it a B-. This was quite a bit better than its other categories. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing our inspection scores. One of those factors is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some of these can be relatively insignificant. While this facility had some minor dings on its report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those found in categories G through L. This means that the inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Finally, CMS cited this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. Hopefully, its performance improves in the future, but until then we simply can't recommend this facility.
This nursing home actually received a decent grade in the area of nursing as well. We awarded it a grade of B- for that category, which is not a bad score. When calculating a facility's nursing score, we look at the amount of time nurses spend with patients as well as the level of licensure of those nurses. This place provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a low total compared with most facilities. Lastly, while this nursing home got dinged a bit for its nursing hours per resident, it actually excelled in some of our quality measures. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it did well in this area.

Long-term Care Quality
This facility was given its third best category score in the category of long-term care. We gave this facility a B- in this area, which is a reasonably acceptable grade. Long-term care grades are generally used to gauge a facility's performance as a traditional convalescent home, as opposed to focusing on the skilled nursing services offered by a skilled nursing facility. In addition to considering the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its residents. Finally, this place was also able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.03 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
Short-term Care Quality
The final category we assessed was short-term care. This facility was given a grade of C in the category. Short-term care grades are based on the facility's quantity of skilled highly skilled professionals. This includes a vast spectrum of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, in addition to other types of therapy. We found that this nursing home was below average in the two key staffing areas we assessed. The facility supplied fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other nursing homes. It is still important to determine whether this also correlates to a lower quality of care. Lastly, we considered the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 4.3 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most facilities, closer to half of their residents are able to return home so this figure is below average.
