Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

Although we didn't rate this nursing home favorably overall, we did give it an excellent score in the category of inspections, where it received a grade of A-. Arguably the most significant factor we consider in computing our inspection ratings is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a facility's recent inspection reports. It is typically in your best interest to avoid nursing homes that have a long list of deficiencies. While this facility had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were severe based on CMS' scale. A couple minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

This nursing home actually received a decent grade in the area of nursing as well. We awarded it a grade of C for that category, which is not a bad score. The nursing category is based on a handful of datapoints, many of which are associated with nursing hours. This particular facility provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This figure is significantly below the national average. Lastly, while this facility got docked a bit for nursing hours per resident, it actually excelled in some of our quality measures. With fewer than five percent of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, it performed remarkably well in this statistic.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: D

We awarded this nursing home a grade of just D for our short-term care score. This is not a very good score. Our short-term care ratings are based on a nursing home's quantity of skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This means a broad scope of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, in addition to other forms of therapy. With a score this poor for this category, we weren't surprised to discover this nursing home was well below average in several staffing metrics we focus on. It provided far fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than most other facilities. Lastly, we considered the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. This definitely was not a strength for this nursing home. We found that just 0 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most nursing homes, around half of their patients are able to return home so this is well below average.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

Moving on to the next area, this nursing home didn't perform well in this category either. With a rock bottom grade of F in long-term care, this is really as bad as it gets. Nursing homes that don't fare well in long-term care often do not provide as much nursing care and also may be lagging in some of the areas of routine healthcare services we assessed. After looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then looked at the facility's vaccination statistics. We were somewhat surprised to discover that this facility vaccinated a relatively low 40.322582 percent of its residents against pneumonia. Surprisingly, this place actually fared well at keeping its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had just 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This is its best feature in this category.
