Registered Staff Hours
On top of being a top notch nursing home overall, it also performed well in inspections, where it earned an A. Few nursing homes performed better in this category. Perhaps the most important factor we consider in determining our inspection ratings is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a facility's inspection reports. Facilities with better grades in this category most likely dodged the most severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. Fortunately, although this nursing home had a few minor dings on its report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you CMS did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
One of the other reasons we rated this nursing home so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing grade. Nursing turned out to be its second best category grade. In that category, we awarded this nursing home an A. Our nursing rating analyzes several datapoints, however, the primary consideration is the quantity of nurse hours per patient per week. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed very well in the area of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality
The next category we assessed was long-term care. Adding to its dominant resume, this nursing home also excelled in that category. In fact, we awarded it a of A- in the category. When facilities receive this kind of score in long-term care it is a good sign for patient care and indicates that the nursing home is well-staffed with nurses aids. Once we assessed the quantity of nursing care, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination statistics. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia is often a deadly illness for nursing home patients so we like it when a facility does not leave this to chance. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
Short-term Care Quality
The final area we looked at is short-term care. This nursing home received an impressive nursing rating in our assessment, with a B. While this isn't quite as strong as some of its other grades, this is still one of our more impressive scores in that category. In computing our short-term care ratings, we analyze the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. Our goal is to create a scale for sizing up the rehabilitation services of various facilities. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.
