Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

We gave this facility an impressive grade of A for our long-term care score. This is much more impressive than the facility's overall score. Nursing homes that receive this type of score in long-term care tend to provide consistent 24/7 care to make sure patients are well cared for. After considering the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we next considered the facility's vaccination data. This nursing home vaccinated 95.14563 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Vaccines are critical to keeping residents out of the hospital. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A

Inspections is another category where this nursing home excelled. We awarded this nursing home an A for our inspections category. This score is far more impressive than its overall grade. Arguably the most important factor we consider in computing our inspection scores is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places with better grades in this category most likely avoided the more severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. While this nursing home had some minor dings on its report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means the inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: D

Moving on to the area of short-term care, this nursing home received a grade of just D in that category. With our short-term care score, we strive to create a meaningful measure for rehabilitation. In this process, we assess the facility's level of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. In this nursing home's case, we found that it provides less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. Finally, we assessed the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. This wasn't a strength for this facility. We found that just 4.4 percent of this facility's residents returned home. At most facilities, around half of their patients are able to return home so this is well below average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

This facility's least impressive category is nursing, which is the last category we looked at. For this area, we gave this facility a grade of D. There are a number of criteria included in this grade. Most of these factors reflect the quantity and quality of nurse staffing. With a meager 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident each day, this nursing home's nurse staffing levels were significantly below the national average. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in calculating our nursing grades. This place performed well in the area of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these areas to be indicators of the quality of nursing care.
