Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

On top of earning a strong overall score, this facility fared well in short-term care. In fact, we awarded it an A- for that category, which is one of our best scores. Our short-term care grades are arguably more critical for folks in need of rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation usually utilizes more skilled nursing. This means not merely nursing services, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. However, based on the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we looked at the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 6.3 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

Adding to its impressive category grades, we awarded this nursing home a grade of B+ for our inspections rating. Perhaps the most important factor we consider in computing our inspection ratings is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a facility's inspection reports. Nursing homes with higher grades in this category most likely dodged the more severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. This facility received 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This means that the inspectors didn't deem any of these deficiencies to be an immediate risk to patient health or safety. We should point out that deficiency-free inspection reports are uncommon in this industry.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

Another strong feature for this facility is that it received an impressive nursing grade. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of B. In determining a nursing home's nursing rating, we weigh the amount of time nurses commit to patients and the levels of training of those nurses. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can often be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

The last category we graded is long-term care. In this area, we awarded this facility a strong grade of B. Facilities that receive this kind of score in this category typically provide consistent around the clock care to make sure residents are well cared for. Once we assessed the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we next considered the facility's vaccination data. This nursing home vaccinated 98.5782 percent of its residents against pneumonia. Vaccines are critical to keeping residents healthy. Finally, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
