While we gave this nursing home a poor overall score, we awarded it a B+ for our inspections rating. This was the result of the nursing home receiving a quality government inspection report this year. Inspection scores account for a host of factors found on a nursing home's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we consider is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. You generally want to avoid nursing homes with a list of severe deficiencies flagged. This facility received 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This indicates that the government inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies to create an imminent threat to resident safety or health. A few minor deficiencies aren't the end of the world.

Turning to the area of nursing care, this facility received a grade of just D in this category. Unfortunately, this ended up being one of its better grades. We analyzed the skill-level of nurses employed by the facility, as well as the number of hours those nurses worked with residents, in calculating our grade in this area. This nursing home averaged a meager 3 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This statistic is far below the national average. Lastly, we also looked at a few quality measures in determining our nursing scores. This facility was above average in two of the statistics we considered, with good scores for minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.

The third category we graded was long-term care. This facility's received a low-end long-term care score where it received an F. In a long-term care environment, the nursing home's primary goal is to maintain patients' quality of life and keep them safe. In addition to looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility provided the vaccine to 94.791664 percent of its patients. Surprisingly, this place also fared well at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had just 1.32 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Unfortunately, some of its other scores in this category weren't as favorable as these.

Turning to our last area, this nursing home did not perform well in this area either. With a poor grade of F in short-term care, this is really as bad as it gets. In the area of short-term care, we endeavor to qualify indicators of a facility's rehabilitation services. We analyze a nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of patients who eventually returned home from this nursing home. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 37.6 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.
