Facility Inspections
In addition to being a great nursing home overall, it also received A+ health inspections recently. Its inspections are nearly flawless. Our inspection scores weigh several factors included in a facility's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we rely on is the number and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with higher scores in this category typically have very few of these severe deficiencies. Fortunately, although this facility had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you that CMS didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Nurse Quality
We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this facility received an impressive grade of A in our nursing category. In computing our nursing ratings, we look at both nursing hours and the training levels of those nurses. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well in the area of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality
Contributing to its strong resume, this nursing home also was given a dominant long-term care score, with a grade of A. When facilities receive this kind of grade in long-term care it is a good sign for resident care and indicates that the place is well-staffed with nurses and aids. After considering the volume of care provided by nurses, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination record. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia is too frequently a deadly condition for nursing home patients so we prefer when a nursing home does not roll the dice on this issue. Finally, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
Short-term Care Quality
In the final category, this nursing home also was awarded an excellent short-term care score, with a B+. This wrapped up a first-rate report card. In forming these short-term care ratings, we assess the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, speech therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. Our objective is to create a barometer for sizing up the rehabilitation services of nursing homes. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last metric we assessed in this area is the number of patients that were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.
