Facility Inspections

Grade: B

Although we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we gave it a B for our inspections rating. This was the result of the facility receiving a decent inspection report this year. Our inspection ratings account for several factors included in a facility's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we weigh heavily is the number and severity of deficiencies. You should avoid facilities with a bunch of deficiencies flagged. This particular nursing home received 4 deficiencies on its inspection report. Overall, this is still a solid inspection report, but we'd always recommend looking into any deficiencies you find troubling.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

This facility also didn't perform too badly in the area of short-term care. Indeed, we gave it a grade of B- in that category, which ended up being another one of its higher scores. In determining our short-term care ratings, we size up a facility's levels of skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other types of therapists. This category is more often than not a reliable assessment of a nursing home's ability to rehabilitate patients. Unfortunately, we found that this place provided fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. Lastly, we assessed the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. This was a much stronger area for this facility. This place outperformed most facilities in this metric with 57.7 percent of its residents returning home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

We also wanted to point out that this nursing home received an F for its nursing grade. Nursing ratings are largely tied to the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This place provided just 3.1 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This number is quite a bit below the national average. This nursing home also had terrible marks in some of the quality-based measures to pair with its low nursing hour totals. For starters, we looked at the percentage of residents sustaining pressure ulcers. This nursing home was at more than double the national average in this statistic.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The next category we looked at was long-term care, in which this nursing home received a rock bottom grade in this area also. Sadly, it received an abysmal F for this area, which is obviously very concerning. In a long-term care environment, the primary goal is to keep patients as healthy and safe as possible. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate residents. Once we assessed the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination records. We were optimistic to learn that this facility vaccinated 99.632355 percent of its residents against pneumonia. To our surprise, this place also wasn't as bad as we expected at keeping its patients out of the hospital. While it had 2.18 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, its risk adjusted score was not bad due to it having more complex patients.
