Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A- for our inspections rating. These inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these items by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This nursing home received 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This means that the government inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies to pose an immediate risk to patient safety or health. Keep in mind that deficiency-free inspections are rare in the industry.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Adding to its first-rate profile, this nursing home also received an excellent long-term care score, with a score of A-. When facilities receive a score in this range in long-term care it generally means it has plenty of staff and is a quality place to live on a permanent basis. After assessing the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we next considered the facility's vaccination statistics. This nursing home vaccinated 95.08197 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Vaccines are critical to keeping patients healthy. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

Adding to its strong resume, this facility also received an excellent nursing score, with a grade of A-. Our nursing grade weighs many subcategories. The most heavily weighted factor is the number of hours nurses spend with residents. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality measures and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can often be avoided by providing better nursing care, such as by employing a system of moving patients even once per day.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

In the final category, we gave this nursing home an A- for its short-term care rating. This wrapped up a very favorable profile. In determining our short-term care scores, we size up the facility's levels of skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other licensed professionals. This rating is considered to be a reliable assessment of a facility's ability to rehabilitate patients. It doesn't look like this facility submitted information about its staffing of registered nurses or physical therapists. Lastly, we considered the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 6.3 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.
