Registered Staff Hours
While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable nursing grade this year. We gave it a grade of B- in that category. There are several factors within this category. Many of the criteria relate to the quantity of nurse staffing. This nursing home averages 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident daily, which is a very low figure. Finally, while this facility got dinged a bit for its nursing hours, it actually excelled in a few of our quality-based measures. With fewer than five percent of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, it performed well in this metric.
Short-term Care Quality
We were also stunned to find that this nursing home earned a reasonably solid short-term care grade this year. We gave it a B- in this category. In determining these short-term care grades, we look at the facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. Our purpose is to create a measure for sizing up the rehabilitation services of different nursing homes. Unfortunately, we found that this nursing home provided fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. The tricky part is determining what bearing this had on the quality of care. Lastly, we looked at the number of residents who who were able to eventually return home from this nursing home. We found that 5.4 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was actually quite a bit below average.
Does this page answer your questions about ProMedica Skilled Nursing And Rehabilitation (Moline)?
This facility's terrible overall score probably can't be attributed to its inspection reports. We gave it a C for our inspections rating. Inspection grades take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these issues by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This facility was assessed 3 deficiencies on its government inspection report, but none were in categories G through L. This indicates the government inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies to present an imminent threat to resident health or safety. Lastly, this nursing home was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. This is generally a really bad sign. We would never recommend this facility.
Long-term Care Quality
Switching gears to our final area, this nursing home did not fare very well in this category either. Due to a bottom of the barrel grade of F in long-term care, this is just about as as uninspiring as it gets. Long-term care scores in this range generally are a bad sign for the quantity and quality of care provided by nurses and aids, as well as the levels of routine medical care available. On top of looking at the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 82.86853 percent of its patients. This is pretty significantly lower than what we expected. To our surprise, this facility was actually decent at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This was its best feature in this category.
