Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

We want to draw your attention to the fact that this nursing home really outperformed its overall score in the area of inspections. In fact, it received a nearly flawless inspection report this year. As a result, we gave it one of our highest scores in this category with an A-. Our inspection grades weigh a host of factors found on a facility's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we weigh heavily is the number and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with higher grades in this category usually have few severe deficiencies. This nursing home received 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This indicates that the government inspectors didn't consider any of these deficiencies to pose an immediate threat to resident health or safety. A few minor deficiencies should not lead you to cross a nursing home off your list.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

We also gave this nursing home a positive score in short-term care. This nursing home earned a B+ in this area, which is one of our better grades. Short-term care grades are commonly used to measure a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation. In order to offer high-end rehabilitation services, facilities generally must offer better levels of highly skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other licensed professionals. Unfortunately, we were not able to find information on registered nurse or physical therapy staffing for this nursing home. Lastly, we considered the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 6 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

Another strength of this nursing home is its favorable grade in nursing. We awarded them one of our better scores in that area, with an impressive grade of D. We looked at the licensure of nurses at the facility, in addition to the number of hours the nurses spent with residents, in computing our grade in this category. This nursing home averaged only 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient daily. This is not a very impressive figure. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing ratings. This facility fared well when it comes to avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The next category we scored is long-term care, which ended up being this facility's weakest category. Sadly, it received an F in this category, which is obviously very concerning. Nursing homes that don't fare well in long-term care often do not provide as much nursing care and also may be lagging in a few of the areas of routine medical care we assessed. One of the factors we considered in addition to nurse's aid hours was vaccinations. We were a bit bothered by the fact that this nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccine to a relatively low 83.49056 percent of its patients. Surprisingly, this facility was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home has less hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes. This is its best feature in this category.
