Facility Inspections
Although we did not rate this facility well overall, we wanted to note its decent health inspection reports in recent years. We gave it a somewhat respectable grade of B- in that area. These inspection ratings take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these issues by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This nursing home received 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe. This means that CMS didn't deem any of the deficiencies to pose an immediate threat to resident safety or health. Lastly, this facility was flagged by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We prefer to avoid facilities with this designation. Please do your best to find an alternative nursing home.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we rated this facility so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing grade. In fact, nursing proved to be its second best category grade. In that area, we gave this nursing home a grade of B-. Our nursing rating looks at the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. We weigh both the levels of skill of the nurses and the number of hours spent with patients. This nursing home provides only 0 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This is a somewhat discouraging figure as it is well below average. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this place fared better in some of the quality-based metrics we assessed. It performed well when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.

Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home's third highest area was its short-term care grade, where it received a grade of B-. In determining our short-term care grades, we look at the facility's levels of highly skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other licensed professionals. This area is considered to be a meaningful assessment of a facility's rehabilitation. Unfortunately, this facility was below average in terms of its level of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its residents based on the measures we assessed. The real question is whether this adversely affected quality of care. Lastly, we considered the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 4.8 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most facilities, closer to half of their residents are able to return home so this figure is below average.
Long-term Care Quality
The final category we looked at was long-term care. Sadly, it received an F in this area, which is a bottom of the barrel grade. For long-term care residents, the facility's primary goal is to keep patients healthy and safe. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate residents. On top of looking at the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 97.63314 percent of its residents. To our surprise, this place also keeps its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Sadly, a few of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.
