Facility Inspections

Grade: A

On top of earning a strong overall rating, this facility performed even better in our inspections category which is based on the facility's recent inspection reports. In fact, we gave it an A for this area, which is one of our best scores. Inspection ratings account for a host of factors included in a facility's inspection reports. One key criteria we weigh heavily is the number and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with higher scores in this area typically have few severe deficiencies. While this nursing home had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. A few minor deficiencies are not something to panic about.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

This nursing home performed well in the category of short-term care. Indeed, we awarded it a grade of A- for that category, which is one of our higher grades. Our short-term care grades are critical for individuals seeking rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually mandates additional skilled nursing services. This means a broad spectrum of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. However, based on the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last statistic we assessed in this area is the number of patients who were able to leave the facility and return home. We found that 5.7 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

Adding to its profile, this facility also earned a grade of B for its nursing rating. This is a well above average score in this category. We scrutinized the licensure of nurses working for the facility, in addition to the quantity of time those nurses worked with residents, in calculating our grade in this category. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: C

Switching gears to our fourth area, this nursing home received a grade of C for long-term care, which we consider to be a decent grade. Long-term care grades are based in part on a facility's amount of care. This includes a broad spectrum of personal care services, ranging from help with activities of daily living to routine medical services. In addition to assessing the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 99.28571 percent of its patients. This nursing home keeps its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
