Facility Inspections
While we did not have many positive things to say about this place's overall grade, it earned a respectable inspection report this year. As a result, it received a decent grade in this category with a B-. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining our inspection ratings. One critical factor is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some deficiencies are relatively minor. This particular nursing home received 5 deficiencies on its inspection report. Another red flag is that CMS cited this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. Hopefully, its performance improves in the future, but until then we simply can't recommend this facility.
Nurse Quality
We awarded this facility a respectable grade in the area of nursing as well, with a grade of B-. Nursing ratings are mostly based on the nursing home's nurse staffing. This facility provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this facility fared better in some of the quality measures we looked at. In fact, it scored well in the area of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be measures of the quality of nursing care. In some cases, the quality of nursing care is just as important as the number of hours of care provided.

Short-term Care Quality
The third most favorable area we gave this facility in any category came in the category of short-term care, where we awarded it a grade of B-. Our short-term care ratings are based in part on the facility's quantity of skilled nursing services. This includes a wide spectrum of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Unfortunately, we found that this facility provided fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other nursing homes. The key is determining what bearing this had on the quality of care. Finally, we assessed the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 4.6 percent of this facility's residents returned home. At most facilities, closer to half of their residents are able to return home so this figure is below average.
Long-term Care Quality
Switching gears to our last category, we awarded this nursing home a grade of D in our long-term care category. This is the nursing home's worst category score. For residents looking for a permanent place to live rather than skilled nursing, long-term care is a very important category. After assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination statistics. This facility vaccinated 94.96855 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is better than the average nursing home. Surprisingly, this place also keeps its residents out of the hospital. It had just 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Unfortunately, some of its other scores in this category weren't as favorable as these.
