Facility Inspections

Grade: A

We want to draw your attention to the fact that this nursing home really outperformed its overall grade in the area of inspections. In fact, it received a nearly flawless inspection report this year. As a result, we gave it one of our best grades in that area with an A. Perhaps the most critical factor we look at in computing our inspection ratings is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a facility's inspection reports. Facilities with higher grades in this category most likely dodged the most severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. This place was hit with 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe. This indicates that the government inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies to cause an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A few minor deficiencies shouldn't lead you to cross a nursing home off your list.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: C

One of this facility's more favorable category scores was in the category of long-term care. This turned out to be its second most favorable category. In that area, we awarded this facility a C. In the area of long-term care, we focus on the amount of care offered by a facility, rather than more healthcare-oriented services. In addition to assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 99.64158 percent of its patients. This place also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: C

The next category we assessed was short-term care. In that area, we awarded this facility a solid grade of C. Short-term care scores are based in part on the nursing home's quantity of highly-skilled nursing services. This means a wide range of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other types of therapy. In this place's case, we were surprised to learn that it actually provides less registered nurse and physical therapist hours per patient than a typical facility. The last measure we looked at in this category is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that just 5.6 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home, which is actually below average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

Turning to the next area, we awarded this facility a grade of D for the area of nursing. This is the nursing home's weakest category rating. There are a number of factors within this area. Many of the criteria relate to nurse staffing. This place averaged a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed well in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.
