Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

One of the many reasons this turned out to be a great nursing home is that it earned a strong short-term care grade. In that area, we gave this nursing home an A. With our short-term care score, we try to create a meaningful measure for rehabilitation. In doing so, we analyze the nursing home's offerings of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last statistic we assessed in this area is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We found that 6.7 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

Adding to its impressive category grades, this facility also excelled in the category of inspections, where it received an A-. Our inspection grades are based on many items found on the a nursing home's inspections. Places that receive favorable grades in this area typically have few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these facilities should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. Fortunately, although this place had some minor dings on its report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you that CMS did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. We should note that deficiency-free inspection reports are rare in this industry.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

This facility also received a strong long-term care grade. In fact, we awarded it an above average score of B+ in this category. If you are looking for anything other than short-term rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each facility's long-term care scores. After we finished assessing the quantity of nursing care, we next considered the facility's vaccination data. This facility vaccinated 93.79845 percent of its patients for pneumonia. Lastly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

The final category we assessed is nursing, where this facility received a B. This actually was this nursing home's weakest category. A facility is doing something right when their poorest score still beats out most nursing homes. There are a number of subcategories within this area. Many of these subcategories relate to the quantity and quality of nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed better than average in this area. This is often a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can often be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.
