While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable inspection report this year. As a result, it received a decent grade in that category with a score of B-. We would argue that one of the most important factors in evaluating an inspection report is deficiencies. We especially look at the severity of those deficiencies. This place was hit with 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered severe. This indicates that CMS didn't deem any of these deficiencies to be an imminent threat to resident safety or health. Lastly, this facility was flagged by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We prefer to avoid facilities with this designation. Please do your best to find an alternative nursing home.

We were also surprised to find that this facility received a decent nursing grade this year. We gave it a grade of B- in that category. Nursing ratings are mostly based on the facility's nurse staffing. According to its CMS data, this facility provided an average of 4 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis, which was above average. Although this nursing home excelled in terms of quantity of nursing hours, it lagged a bit in some of the statistics that focused on quality. This facility's nursing grade was hurt by its weak performance in the area of minimizing pressure ulcers. We found that 12.9 percent of this facility's residents suffered from pressure ulcers.

This nursing home also didn't rate too badly in the area of short-term care. Indeed, we awarded it a grade of B- for that category, which happens to be another one of its more favorable grades. In our short-term care grade, we endeavor to forge a valuable barometer for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we analyze the nursing home's offerings of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. This nursing home excelled in the two key staffing areas we looked at. In fact, it offered more care from physical therapists and registered nurses than the average facility. The final datapoint we considered in this category is the percentage of patients who returned home from the nursing home. We found that it performed better than most nursing homes in this area with 52 percent of its residents returning home.

The final category we scored is long-term care. We gave it a lowly F for this category, which is an abysmal grade. For long-term care residents, the facility's primary objective is to maintain patients' quality of life and keep them safe. In addition to looking at the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 100 percent of its patients, which is more than the majority of nursing homes. Surprisingly, this facility also fared well at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Sadly, a few of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.
