Facility Inspections
While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable inspection report this year. As a result, it received a decent grade in that category with a score of B-. These inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can learn more about each of these factors by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. While this place had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were serious based on CMS' scale. Finally, CMS cited this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. Hopefully, its performance improves in the future, but until then we simply can't recommend this facility.
Nurse Quality
We were also surprised to find that this facility received a decent nursing grade this year. We gave it a grade of B- in that category. Our nursing grade consists of several datapoints, most of which are based on levels of nurse staffing. With 4.2 hours of nursing care per patient each day, this facility surpassed the national average. We also look at the skill levels of these nurses and apply more weight to hours worked by skilled nurses. Even though this facility excelled in terms of quantity of nursing hours, it fell short in certain subcategories that related to quality. This facility's nursing score was hurt by its weak performance in the area of avoiding pressure ulcers. We found that 14.3 percent of this nursing home's patients suffered from pressure ulcers.

Short-term Care Quality
We were also pleasantly surprised to find that this facility earned a solid short-term care rating this year. We awarded it a grade of B- in that category. In forming these short-term care ratings, we quantify the facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. Our goal is to create a scale for comparing the rehabilitation services of different facilities. This nursing home provided more physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most facilities. This is what we like to find when assessing a facility in this category. Finally, we considered the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that it outperformed the majority of nursing homes with 50.8 percent of its residents returning home. This is a better rate than most nursing homes.
Long-term Care Quality
The final area we analyzed was long-term care. Sadly, it received an F in this category, which is a rock bottom grade. For residents seeking a permanent place to live as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care grades are an important measure. After considering the amount of nursing care, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination data. We were optimistic to find that this nursing home vaccinates 97.46835 percent of its residents for pneumonia. Surprisingly, this facility was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had just 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Sadly, a few of its other scores in this category weren't as favorable as these.
