Short-term Care Quality
Although we graded this nursing home incredibly poorly overall, it received a decent short-term care score this year. We gave it a C in that area, which was the closest thing to a bright spot we found for this facility. With our short-term care rating, we endeavor to craft a meaningful barometer for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we assess the nursing home's scope of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. We were surprised to find that this nursing home was below average in the two key staffing areas we assessed. The facility supplied fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other nursing homes. It is still important to determine whether this also correlates to a lower quality of care. The final datapoint we assessed in this category is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We discovered that just 5.9 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is below average.
Nurse Quality
We gave this facility a grade of just D for our nursing rating and that actually turned out to be its second highest score. Our nursing grade is largely based on a facility's nurse staffing. This place provided only 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient daily. This is well below average. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing grades. This facility fared well when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.

Long-term Care Quality
The next category we looked at is long-term care. This facility's was given an unfortunate long-term care grade where it received a lowly F. Facilities that receive this kind of grade in long-term care may not provide the kind of consistent around the clock care that some other facilities offer. One of the datapoints we considered on top of nursing hours was vaccines. We were a bit bothered by the fact that this facility provided the pneumonia vaccine to just 88.888885 percent of its patients. To our surprise, this nursing home was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility has fewer hospitalizations than the average nursing home. This is its best feature in this category.
Facility Inspections
The last category we looked at was inspections. This facility did not receive positive government inspection reports in recent years. As a result, we gave it an F here. For nursing homes with poor inspection ratings, you should really scrutinize any severe deficiencies found on their recent inspection reports. This particular nursing home was hit with 6 deficiencies by CMS. The only favorable thing we found is that none of the deficiencies were in the categories that indicate they posed a threat to resident safety or health. Lastly, this nursing home was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. This is generally a really bad sign. We would never recommend this facility.
