Facility Inspections
This nursing home received a quality overall score as described above, but we especially would like to emphasize its nearly flawless inspections in recent years. We gave them an A in this area. Inspection ratings take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can find more information about each of these items by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Fortunately, although this facility had a few minor dings on its government inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you that the inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A few minor dings aren't something to panic about.
Long-term Care Quality
In addition, this nursing home also received favorable long-term care grades in our assessment. Indeed, we gave them one of our better grades in that category, with a grade of B. Nursing homes that excel in this category tend to provide patients with closer supervision and stay on top of routine medical care. On top of looking at the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 97.42268 percent of its patients. Vaccines are critical to keeping residents healthy. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality
This facility's next best category grade came in the area of nursing. In that category, we gave this nursing home a grade of B-. This wasn't quite on par with some of its other category grades mentioned above. There are a variety of subcategories within this area. Most of the datapoints are tied to the quantity and quality of nurse staffing. This place provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This is a low total compared with most nursing homes. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this place surprisingly excelled in some of the quality-based metrics we looked at. It performed well in the area of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.
Short-term Care Quality
Switching gears to the fourth area, this facility was given an acceptable short-term care score of C. Short-term care grades are commonly employed to score a facility's performance with rehabilitation. In order to provide high-end rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally need to offer higher levels of skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other highly skilled individuals. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we looked at the number of patients that ultimately returned home from this facility. We found that 4.4 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was actually well below average.
