Facility Inspections
On top of having a decent overall rating, we also wanted to point out that this nursing home received favorable inspections in recent years. We awarded them one of our better grades in that area, with a B. This is a notably better score than the facility's overall score. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in calculating our inspection grades. One critical factor is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of deficiencies is usually more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these end up being quite insignificant. This nursing home was hit with 6 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered severe. This means that CMS did not consider any of these deficiencies an imminent threat to resident safety or health. A couple of minor deficiencies should not stop you from considering a nursing home.
Nurse Quality
We also awarded this facility a favorable grade in nursing. This facility earned a grade of B in this category, which is one of our better grades. Our nursing rating is largely based on a nursing home's nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality measures and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can many times be avoided by providing better nursing care, such as by having a system of turning a patient even once per day.

Long-term Care Quality
The next category we graded was long-term care. In that category, we awarded this facility a grade of B-. In the area of long-term care, we weigh the amount of care provided by a nursing home, rather than more sophisticated services. Once we concluded our assessment of the amount of care provided by nurses, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination records. We were optimistic to find that this nursing home vaccinates 96.20596 percent of its patients for pneumonia. Finally, this facility was also able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
Short-term Care Quality
Our last category is short-term care, in which we awarded this nursing home a B- in this category. In the category of short-term care, we endeavor to assess measures of a facility's rehabilitation. We assess the facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses and physical and occupational therapists. Unfortunately, we found that this place provided fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other facilities. The tricky part is determining what effect this had on quality of care. Lastly, we looked at the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 4.9 percent of this facility's residents returned home. At most nursing homes, closer to half of their residents are able to return home so this figure is below average.
