Short-term Care Quality
To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home an impressive grade of A+ for our short-term care grade. With our short-term care grade, we endeavor to forge a sound measure for rehabilitation. In doing so, we analyze the facility's level of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we looked at the number of residents who eventually returned home from this nursing home. We found that 7 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we graded this nursing home so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing score. Nursing turned out to be its second best category grade. In that category, we awarded this facility an A-. We looked at the skill-level of nurses employed by the nursing home, in addition to the quantity of hours the nurses worked with residents, in computing our score in this area. This nursing home averages 0.6 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality measures and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any place the state in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can often be avoided by providing better nursing care, such as by employing a protocol of moving patients at least once a day.

Long-term Care Quality
The third category we analyzed was long-term care. This facility received an impressive long-term care score, with a B+ in this area. Long-term care grades in this range generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. In addition to assessing the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its residents, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia is often a life or death health condition for nursing home patients so we strongly prefer when a facility doesn't leave this to chance. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
Facility Inspections
Finally, we looked at this nursing home's inspection grade This was not one of this facility's better grades. We gave it a C in this area. This isn't a horrible score in this category. It simply wasn't as strong as some of this place's other category grades. We believe that one of the most critical factors in evaluating an inspection report is deficiencies. We especially focus on the severity of those deficiencies. This place was assessed 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to find that none were category G through L deficiencies. This tells you this facility dodged the more significant classes of deficiencies. Unfortunately, we also need to draw your attention to the fact that this facility received significant government fines in recent years.
