Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

On top of being a strong facility overall, it also earned A+ inspections in recent years. Its inspections are virtually flawless. Inspection grades are based on several items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that score well in this category have few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. While this nursing home had some minor dings on its report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means the inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

Among its many impressive scores, this nursing home was given first-rate long-term care grade. In fact, it received a grade of A in this area. When nursing homes receive a grade in this range in this category it typically means it's well-staffed and is a quality place to reside on a permanent basis. In addition to considering the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 100 percent of its patients, which is significantly higher than the majority of nursing homes. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

We also wanted to note the fact that this nursing home was given a superb score of A- in our short-term care area. Short-term care grades are vital for residents requiring rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically utilizes higher levels of highly-skilled nursing services. This means a vast scope of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. It doesn't look like this facility provided information about its staffing of registered nurses or physical therapists. Finally, we looked at the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 6.1 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

The next area we scored is nursing. This nursing home received a very good nursing rating in our assessment, with a grade of B. Although this is not nearly as strong as some of its other grades, this remains one of our more favorable scores for this area. Our nursing category consists of quite a few factors, most of which are tied to quantities of nurse staffing. This facility provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
