The primary reason this turned out to be a decent nursing home is that it received an elite inspection score. Its inspection score was far superior to its overall grade. In the inspections category, we gave this facility an A. Arguably the most significant factor we consider in computing our inspection scores is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes with higher scores in this area typically avoided the most severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. This facility was assessed 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered severe. This indicates that the inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies to be an immediate threat to resident safety or health. A couple of minor deficiencies should not stop you from considering a nursing home.

In addition, we also wanted to point out that this nursing home received favorable long-term care marks in this assessment. We awarded them one of our more impressive grades in this area, with a grade of B. This proved to be the facility's second strongest grade. Facilities that excel in this category tend to be well-staffed and offer extensive hands on care to patients. After looking at the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination data. This nursing home vaccinated 94.65409 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Vaccines are vital to keeping residents healthy. Finally, we looked at the facility's number of hospitalizations. With 1.75 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility was just about middle of the pack in this area.

Another strength of this nursing home is its favorable grade in nursing. We gave them one of our better scores in that area, with a score of D. Our nursing rating looks at the nursing home's nurse staffing levels. We consider both the levels of training of those nurses and the amount of time spent with residents. This facility offered just 3.3 hours of nursing care per patient daily. This is not a very impressive figure. Lastly, we also looked at some quality measures in computing our nursing ratings. This facility was above average in two of the statistics we considered, with good scores for avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.

The next category we analyzed was short-term care. Sadly, it received a lowly F in this category, which is a bottom of the barrel grade. This is certainly a major disappointment. With our short-term care score, we endeavor to create a valuable measure for rehabilitation services. In this process, we assess the nursing home's levels of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Based on its grade in this category, we were not shocked to find that this nursing home was well below average in terms of its quantity of registered nurse hours offered to its patients. Frankly, this was about what we expected here. The final item we considered in this area is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that just 39.9 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home, which is well below average. This statistic was damning for this facility's short-term care grade.
