Nurse Quality

Grade: A-plus

We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this facility excelled in our nursing rating. We awarded them an impressive grade of A+ in this category. Our nursing category assesses quite a few subcategories, most of which are based on levels of nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0.6 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can often be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A

In addition, this nursing home also received a nearly flawless government inspection report. As a result, it earned one of our highest grades in that area with an A. Perhaps the most important factor we consider in computing our inspection scores is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a facility's inspection reports. Facilities with better scores in this category typically avoided the more severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. While this nursing home had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G through L. This means that the government inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A couple relatively minor dings are not necessarily something to panic about.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Adding to its first-rate assessment, this facility also was awarded a dominant short-term care grade, with a grade of A-. Our short-term care grade is commonly employed to grade a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation In order to provide highly scored rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally must feature higher levels of skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other types of therapists. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final datapoint we assessed in this area is the percentage of patients that were able to return home from the facility. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The final category we assessed is long-term care. This facility was awarded a strong long-term care score in our assessment, with a B-. Although this is not nearly as strong as several of its other scores, this remains an acceptable rating in that area. For residents looking for a permanent place to live rather than skilled nursing, long-term care grades are a key measure. Once we concluded our assessment of the volume of care provided by nurses, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination records. We were pleased to find that this facility vaccinated 98.60465 percent of its residents against pneumonia. This place also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
