In addition to being a respectable facility overall, this facility also excelled in the category of inspections, where it earned a grade of A+. Few facilities performed better in this area. Inspection grades are tied to several pieces of information found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes that receive favorable grades in this category typically have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these places generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. This facility was hit with 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe. This tells you that the inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies to create an imminent threat to resident safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is always a good sign.

Turning to the category of long-term care, we awarded this facility a grade of A- in that category. Facilities that excel in this category tend to provide residents with closer supervision and stay on top of routine healthcare services. Once we looked at the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we next considered the facility's vaccination records. This nursing home vaccinated 97.47253 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is better than most nursing homes. Lastly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. Although it had 2.35 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, its risk adjusted metric was better than most facilities due to it having more complex patients.

Another strength of this nursing home is its favorable grade in nursing. We awarded them one of our better scores in that area, with a grade of D. Our nursing rating is based on several components, but the most important one is the quantity of nurse hours per patient per week. With only 1.9 hours of nursing care per patient each day, this nursing home's nurse staffing levels were well below average. Lastly, we also looked at some quality measures in calculating our nursing grades. This nursing home was above average in two of the major statistics we focus on, with good scores for avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.

Switching gears to our next category, this nursing home really didn't perform very well. With a very poor grade of F in short-term care, this was this nursing home's poorest area. Our short-term care scores are believed to be most meaningful for patients in need of a nursing home for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically mandates higher levels of highly-skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing means not only nursing, but also physical and speech therapy, as well as other forms of therapy. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of patients who returned home from this facility. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 21.1 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit off the national average.
