In addition to being a great nursing home overall, it also received A+ government inspections recently. Its inspections are nearly perfect. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining our inspection scores. One key factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some of these can be quite insignificant. Fortunately, although this facility had a few minor dings on its report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you the inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

One of the other reasons we rated this facility so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing rating. In that area, we gave this nursing home an A+. There are a host of datapoints included in this area. Most of these subcategories reflect the quantity of nurse staffing. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can often be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Adding to its high-end resume, this facility also was given a superb long-term care grade, with a score of A. Long-term care ratings of this caliber generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. One of the factors we considered in addition to nurse's aid hours was vaccines. This facility provided the pneumonia vaccine to 96.7033 percent of its patients. Vaccination is a reliable method to minimize negative health outcomes for the elderly population. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

In our last category, we awarded this facility an A+ for its short-term care score. This rounded out an elite report card. With our short-term care rating, we attempt to create a meaningful gauge for rehabilitation services. In this process, we assess a facility's level of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final item we assessed in this area is the number of residents who ultimately were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that 5.7 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.
