This nursing home received a quality overall score as described above, but we especially want to point out its nearly flawless government inspections in recent years. We awarded them an A in this area. Arguably the most critical factor we consider in determining our inspection ratings is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities with better scores in this area typically dodged the most severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. This facility received 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none were considered to be severe deficiencies. This means that the inspectors did not consider any of these deficiencies to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

This nursing home is also strong in the category of long-term care, where it was awarded a grade of B. It performed better than most nursing homes in this category. When facilities receive a score in this range in this category it generally means it's well-staffed and is a quality place to reside on a permanent basis. This facility administered the vaccine to 94.44444 percent of its patients, which is what we like to see. Pneumonia is often a life threatening ailment for nursing home residents so we prefer when a nursing home does not take any chances. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Turning to our next area, this facility also earned a grade of B for its short-term care rating. This is a well above average grade in this category. In calculating our short-term care ratings, we assess a nursing home's levels of skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists occupational therapists and other highly trained professionals. This area is more often than not a reliable measure of the facility's ability to rehabilitate patients. It does not appear that this nursing home provided data regarding its registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. Lastly, we considered the number of residents that ultimately returned home from this facility. We found that 5.2 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

The final category we graded is nursing. This facility received a B- for the area. Nursing ratings are mostly associated with a nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Finally, despite not having the highest total nursing hours per resident, this place actually performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is often an indicator that a nursing home has quality controls in place.
