Facility Inspections
While this nursing home's overall score was not a highlight, it actually really excelled in the category of inspections. In fact, we awarded it an A for that category, which is one of our highest scores. Our inspection ratings are tied to pieces of information located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are a key item to look for on these reports. You should especially avoid nursing homes with severe deficiencies associated with endangerment of patients. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. Not having any deficiencies proved to be this nursing home's greatest strength.
Long-term Care Quality
Additionally, we also would like to draw your attention to the fact that this facility received strong long-term care marks in this assessment. We gave them one of our more impressive grades in this category, with a grade of B. This turned out to be the nursing home's second best grade. For patients seeking a permanent residence rather than skilled nursing, long-term care is an important category. Once we assessed the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we next considered the facility's vaccination data. This facility vaccinated 74.512985 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which happens to be slightly below what we were hoping for but still a decent figure. While its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we had hoped, at least this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
Does this page answer your questions about Harvest Manor Nursing Home?
Nurse Quality
Unfortunately, we gave this facility an F for its nursing grade. Nursing ratings are based in large part on quantity of nursing care available. This nursing home offered just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is well below average. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing ratings. This place fared well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.
Short-term Care Quality
The last category we rated was short-term care. Unfortunately, we gave it an F for this category, which is a poor score. Our short-term care scores are based in part on a facility's quantity of highly-skilled highly skilled professionals. This includes a broad scope of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. With a grade this poor for this area, we were not shocked to find this place was well below average in multiple staffing areas we assess. The nursing home supplied significantly fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per patient than most nursing homes. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of residents who returned home from this facility. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.8 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit off the national average.
