Long-term Care Quality
On top of being a first rate nursing home overall, this facility also excelled in the area of long-term care, where it received an impressive grade of A+. Few facilities fared better in this category. When facilities receive a grade in this range in this category it generally means it has plenty of staff and is an overall good place to reside on a permanent basis. After we finished looking at the quantity of nursing care, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination statistics. This facility vaccinated 98.666664 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which is what we like to see. Pneumonia sadly is often a deadly ailment for nursing home residents so we like it when a facility does not leave this to chance. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we graded this nursing home so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing rating. This proved to be its second best category grade. In that category, we awarded this facility an A. The nursing grade weighs numerous datapoints. The most important one is the quantity of hours nurses spent with patients. This nursing home provides 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality measures and this nursing home excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any place the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can typically be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as employing a system of turning a patient more frequently.

Facility Inspections
Adding to this facility's impressive resume, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A- for our inspections rating. These inspection grades weigh several factors, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these items by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. While this place had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none were severe based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Short-term Care Quality
The final category we analyzed turned out to be this facility's poorest area. However, even in its weakest link we still awarded it an acceptable grade of C in short-term care. Short-term care grades are generally used to assess a facility's performance with rehabilitation. To offer high-end rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally must feature better levels of highly skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other highly skilled individuals. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last item we looked at in this category is the number of residents that who were able to eventually return home from the nursing home. We found that just 3.9 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.
