Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

It should be noted that this nursing home's inspection grade outpaced its overall grade. In fact, we gave it a grade of B+ for its inspections grade, which is one of our better scores. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing these inspection ratings. One key factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these can be relatively insignificant. While this facility had a few deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. The fact that the deficiencies were relatively minor made us feel better about this inspection report.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

One of the other reasons we graded this nursing home so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing score. In that category, we awarded this nursing home an B+. Nursing grades are tied to quantity of nursing care available. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can frequently be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: C

This nursing home's next best area was long-term care. In that area, we gave this nursing home a C. Long-term care grades are based in part on the facility's amount of care. This includes a vast spectrum of personal care services, ranging from assistance with activities of daily living to routine medical services. In addition to considering the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 96.47059 percent of its patients. Lastly, this place was also able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: C

The last category we rated was short-term care. This facility received a grade of C in this category. Our short-term care scores are based in part on a facility's quantity of skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This means a vast spectrum of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we looked at the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 3.9 percent of this facility's residents returned home. At most nursing homes, closer to half of their residents are able to return home so this figure is below average.
