Facility Inspections
In addition to being a respectable nursing home overall, this place really excelled in the area of inspections, where it received an A. Few facilities performed better in this category. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating our inspection ratings. One critical factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some end up being quite minor. Fortunately, although this nursing home had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G through L. This means that the inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies shouldn't stop you from considering a nursing home.
Long-term Care Quality
Additionally, we awarded this facility a grade of B in our long-term care category. This happens to be one of our better scores. For prospective residents in need of a permanent place to live rather than skilled nursing, long-term care is an important category. One of the criteria we considered on top of nursing hours is vaccines. This nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccine to 90.50279 percent of its patients. While its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we like to see, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality
Another strength of this facility is its favorable grade in nursing. We gave them one of our better scores in that area, with a score of D. When calculating a nursing home's nursing score, we weigh the number of hours nurses spend with residents as well as the level of licensure of the nurses. This facility provided a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This is not a very impressive figure. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing ratings. This facility performed well in the area of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.
Short-term Care Quality
The last area we rated was short-term care, which turned out to be this facility's least impressive category. We awarded this nursing home a D in this area. Our short-term care grade is generally employed to score a nursing home's rehabilitation services. In order to offer high-end rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally must offer higher levels of highly skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other types of therapists. Considering its abysmal grade in this area, we were not shocked to learn that this place offers significantly fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other nursing homes. Finally, we considered the number of residents that ultimately returned home from this nursing home. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 5.1 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit off the national average.
