Facility Inspections

Grade: A

While this facility's overall grade was decent, it really excelled in the category of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A for that category, which is one of our highest scores. Inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these items by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Although this facility had a few deficiencies on its inspection report, none were severe based on CMS' scale. A couple relatively minor deficiencies are not something to panic about.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

This facility was awarded its second best category score in the category of short-term care. We gave this nursing home a grade of B- in this area, which is a respectable score. Our short-term care grades are probably most important for those requiring rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation usually requires more highly-skilled nursing services. This includes not only nursing, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. It doesn't appear that this nursing home submitted information about its staffing of registered nurses or physical therapists. The final measure we considered in this category is the percentage of patients who ultimately were able to return home from the facility. We found that just 4.6 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

This facility's next best category grade came in the area of nursing. In that category, we gave this nursing home a grade of B-. Our nursing grade analyzes many subcategories, many of which are based on levels of nurse staffing. This nursing home averages just 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis, which is not an impressive total. Lastly, although this facility got dinged a bit for its nursing hours, it actually excelled in some of our quality metrics. With less than five percent of its patients suffering from pressure ulcers, it fared very well in this statistic.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: C

The next category we looked at is long-term care. For this category, we gave this nursing home a C. In a long-term care setting, the facility's primary objective is to keep patients healthy and safe. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate patients. After assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination records. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is better than most nursing homes. Finally, this nursing home was also able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
